franklin park snow festival photoFranklin Park Snow Festival - Saturday, February 8th 1-4pm at the Franklin Park Golf Clubhouse, One Circuit Drive, Dorchester, MA 02121.

Keep your fingers crossed for lots of the fluffy white stuff!

Come sled, build snowpeople, track animal prints in the snow, try out snowshoes, or bring your own skis for a cross country park tour.

You can warm up indoors with hot chocolate and board games.

The lineup includes the New England Aquarium Tidal Pool where participants can handle and observe a wide range of live tidal pool animals from local waters, Science from Scientists tabletop experiments, the Pseudomorphs archaeological detective game presented by the Massachusetts Archaeology Education Consortium.

The Massachusetts Horticultural Society’s Plantmobile horticultural lab table and outdoor plant parts scavenger hunt, and demonstrations hosted by iRobot, Science on the Street, and Boston Children’s Hospital including paper rocket building and launching, the Edgerton Strobe Machine, and the Augmented Reality Sandbox.

The festival will also feature Rosalita’s Puppets, facepainting, and refreshments provided by New England Coffee.

In addition, the L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery School will present their Snowshoeing Discovery Course, a fun and easy way to try out the sport with expert instructors who will lead an easy guided trek through Franklin Park.

Snowshoes will be provided. Participants should wear weather-appropriate clothing and winter or hiking boots. L.L.Bean will also be bringing the Bootmobile, a motorized replica of the famous L.L.Bean boot measuring 13’ tall, 20’ 6” long and 7’ 6” wide.

All ages welcome!
