The Lemelson-MIT Program kicks off the ninth-annual EurekaFest. EurekaFest is a multi-day celebration designed to empower a legacy of inventors through activities that inspire youth, honor role models, and encourage creativity and problem-solving.

EurekaFest: Celebrate the Inventive Spirit at MIT and Boston’s Museum of Science (MOS)

FRIDAY, JUNE 19 @ MIT
9:00 -- 11:00 A.M.

InvenTeams Presentations: The 2015 InvenTeams will present their invention prototypes in small groups, including a heat detection bracelet for children to prevent vehicular heatstroke and an anti-rollback device for manual wheelchairs.

3:30 -- 5:30 P.M.

InvenTeams Showcase: The 2015 InvenTeams will exhibit their invention prototypes.

Examples include: an autonomous weed removal robot for farming, a detachable rubbish vacuum for NYC subways, and a continuous water flow device for firefighters.

5:30 – 7:30 P.M.

The Lemelson-MIT National Collegiate Student Prize Winners' Presentations & Awards Ceremony: Winners of the Lemelson-MIT National Collegiate Student Prize Competition in the 'Cure it!', 'Eat it!', 'Drive it!' and 'Use it!' categories will discuss their technology-based inventions and be recognized for their inventive achievements.

Winner inventions include a respiratory device for developing countries to help premature infants breathe and an innovative solution to solve global food scarcity.

SATURDAY, JUNE 20 @ MIT and MOS
11:00 -- 3:00 P.M.

The Museum of Science will offer hands-on learning activities for inventors of all ages from 11:00 A.M.

– 3:00 P.M.

Families are encouraged to join the fun!

1:00 -- 5:00 P.M.

Cheer on students in a design challenge that explores the invention process.

High school students from across the country will design and build a wind-powered device capable of hovering three stories in the air while carrying rubber ducks.

Students will be at MIT in the morning and then transport their devices to the Museum of Science to test and compete in Duck ‘N’ Hover, EurekaFest’s finale wind-powered competition, which starts at 1:00 P.M.

and ends at 4:30 P.M.
