Evenings for Families with Deaf, Hard of Hearing, & KODA Children (closed to the public).

Come join in all the fun and explore the accessible Discovery Museum during this free evening event especially for families with d/Deaf, hard of hearing, or KODA children. Evenings include March 11, May 6, December 2, 2023.

Your family can play, explore, experiment, and imagine together while we are closed to the general public.

Space is limited, and registration is required. Dinner, including a gluten-free option, will be served.

Resources available to prepare for your visit include Story Guides to visiting the Museum during COVID protocols and visiting Discovery Woods, as well a Sensory Guide. These are available both online and at our Admissions Desk.

You might also visit the Exhibits section of our website, view or download our Access for All flyer, and review our Tips for Visiting. You can borrow noise-reducing headphones and a portable step stool for easier access to exhibits at the Admissions desk.

ASL interpretation may be available upon request; please indicate on the registration form if you would like interpretation at the event. Mask exemption requests must also be requested through the registration form, and with an email to Shilpa Kulkarni at [email protected].

Please note that Discovery Woods is open year-round, but closes at dusk in the winter months.

Especially for Me is part of the museum’s Open Door Connections program to provide opportunities for those who face a variety of barriers---financial, developmental, or cultural---to experience the Museum.

Especially for Me is made possible by Alexion Charitable Foundation and Orville W. Forté Charitable Foundation, with additional support from Ameriprise Financial, Inc., Corning Incorporated Foundation, Greater Lowell Community Foundation, and Mass Cultural Council, along with Emerson Hospital and Nypro, Inc.
