Historian Justin Demetri will present a slideshow on the origins of the Burnham Brothers Marine Railways, current site of Maritime Gloucester.

Through historic news clippings and photos (some colorized) he will trace the story of Parker, Elias, and Joseph Burnham's early years in Gloucester, construction of America's oldest functional marine railway, the disastrous fire of 1859, the historic Mill Building, their grain business, along with notable incidents and accidents during the Burnham era of ownership.
