Ethiopia might not be the most obvious choice as a destination in Africa.

It lacks the classic safari appeal of Kenya and South Africa, and its infrastructure is not as well developed, but Ethiopia’s lack of renown will not last long.

With its cast of hundreds of bird species (thirty-one of which are endemic to Ethiopia and Eritrea), spectacular concentrations of waterfowl and shorebirds, many interesting mammals, and breathtaking landscapes, it is a truly exciting destination indeed.

Bird photographer and artist Luke Seitz traveled to Ethiopia for a month during his winter break this year, with a particular focus on gathering video footage of the endemic bird species.

His talk will highlight the fascinating diversity of habitats in Ethiopia, from 14,000-foot mountains to lowland acacia savannah, and promises to be full of stunning photographs and videos of rarely seen birds and mammals.
