Artist and author Nils Navarro will kick off this season’s Travel & Taste series with a talk on the birds and their habitats on his island home.

Cuba has long been a prized destination for birders and nature lovers, but has been difficult to visit from the U.S.

All that is changing.

With normalizing relations more people can plan trips to experience the spectacular bird life and nature of this small island just 90 miles from Florida.

Spectacular birds like the Cuban trogan are among the highlights.

Artist and author Nils Navarro will kick off this season’s Travel & Taste series with a talk on the birds and their habitats on his island home.

The Cuban avifauna includes more than 370 species, with a high level of endemism, both local and regional.

Original art for his new book Comprehensive Field Guide to the Endemic Birds of Cuba will be on display at Broadmoor and his field guide will be for sale the evening of his talk.

Location-themed buffet dinner and lecture or lecture only (7:30pm start).

Pre-registration required for dinner by 6pm Tuesday, October 13.

Online registration available.
