Most meetings are so crammed that little attention is given to reflecting: on our work, relationships, hopes, or deepest purposes.
A growing body of evidence tells us that reflective practices in meetings can greatly improve group communication and effectiveness.
Especially when time is precious, so, in fact, is reflection; effective practice can provide interruptions to dysfunctional communication patterns, enhance clarity, and foster new connections between people and ideas - in any meeting situation.
In situations of decision-making, reflection allows a group to tap into its deepest purposes, avoid groupthink, limit mistakes, get creative, and maximize impact.
