WHAT: In the upcoming lecture, “Facilitating Productive Dialogue about Climate Change,” the Aquarium’s Vice President for Programs, Exhibits, and Planning Dr. Dr. William Spitzer, Ph.D., will moderate a panel discussion with three educators from across the U.S.

who participated in the Aquarium’s climate change education training program.

Started seven years ago, the National Network for Ocean and Climate Change Interpretation (NNOCCI) began with five partner zoos and aquariums and now has 170 participating in 38 states.

Panelists will share reflections from their experiences to illustrate how lessons have influenced climate change communication.

The lecture will also offer specific ideas and inspiration for people interested in talking about climate change in productive ways.

WHO: As the Aquarium’s Vice President for Programs, Exhibits, and Planning, Dr. Spitzer is responsible for oversight of exhibit design, visitor experience, volunteer, and education programs as well as institutional strategic planning.

He brings extensive experience in informal science education and curriculum development, as well as a background in physics, chemistry, and oceanography to his position at the Aquarium.

He holds a Ph.D.

in Oceanography from MIT and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
