After forty years, John Hiatt remains one of America’s most respected and influential singer-songwriters today with the Los Angeles Times hailing that, “(Hiatt) writes the funniest sad songs – and the saddest funny songs – of just about anybody alive.”

His songs have been covered by artists as diverse as Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt (“Thing Called Love”), Buddy Guy, Emmylou Harris, the Neville Brothers, Rosanne Cash (the #1 country hit, “The Way We Make A Broken Heart”), the Jeff Healey Band (“Angel Eyes”), Jewel, Willie Nelson, Steve Earle and Linda Ronstadt.

He earned a Grammy nomination for his album Crossing Muddy Waters, and B.B.

King and Eric Clapton shared a Grammy for their album Riding With The King, the title track from which was a Hiatt composition.

In 2007, John Hiatt was honored with his own star on Nashville’s Walk of Fame, and his legacy was even further cemented in 2008 with an Americana Music Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting and his induction into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.

In 1987, with seven solo albums already under his belt, Hiatt’s A&M debut, Bring The Family, was his breakthrough and he was subsequently named Best Male Vocalist in Rolling Stone’s annual Critics Poll.

In the last few years, Hiatt has released Same Old Man, The Open Road, Dirty Jeans, Mudslide Hymns and Mystic Pinball, all to critical acclaim.

He’s also done a series of shows with Lyle Lovett which Hiatt calls “our little Smothers Brothers comedy show,” that’s brought out other spins on his art.

In his newest release, Terms of My Surrender, with his longtime guitarist Doug Lancio taking the producer reins, Hiatt has set out to bring the songs’ character into intimate focus.

In his own words, “there’s a close-up, patina-festooned bluesy quality tying the tales together.

But it’s blues in the knotty backwoods sense, as if sprung from the Delta loam.”

“…one of rock’s most astute singer-songwriters of the last 40 years.”
-The Los Angeles Times

“…so relevant, so melodic, so universal, so human that it hooks deep within the listener’s soul and takes you on a musical journey…a world of love, heartbreak, hope and rebirth…” -Huffington Post
