Patty Larkin redefines the boundaries of folk-urban pop music with her inventive guitar wizardry and uncompromising vocals and lyrics.

Descended from a long line of Irish American singers and taletellers, Patty’s mother was a painter, her sisters both musicians.

Patty sang throughout her high school and college career, starting out in coffeehouses in Oregon and San Francisco.

Upon graduation from the University of Oregon, she moved to Boston and devoted herself to music, busking on the streets of Cambridge and studying jazz guitar at Berklee College of Music and with Boston area jazz guitarists.

The New York Times called Patty, “A virtuoso guitar player and mood-shaper .

.

.

She is also a superb slide guitarist whose mature work is comparable to the best of Bonnie Raitt and Lucinda Williams.” Acoustic Guitar hails her “soundscape experiments,” while Rolling Stone praises her “evocative and sonic shading.”

She has been described as “riveting” (Chicago Tribune), “hypnotic” (Entertainment Weekly) and a “drop-dead brilliant” performer (Performing Songwriter).

Patty is the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate of Music from Berklee College of Music, where she is now an Artist in Residence.

She has earned eleven Boston Music Awards and has been honored by Boston's Mayor Thomas Menino with “Patty Larkin Appreciation Day” in recognition of her philanthropic contributions to non-profit organizations.

Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion began performing together as an acoustic duo in the fall of 2000.

Their music combined Irion's love of rock and blues with Guthrie's roots of folk and country.

Guthrie is the youngest daughter of folksinger Arlo Guthrie and the granddaughter of Woody Guthrie.

Tumbling Bones is a trio of young men inspired by old music.

They play a mix of original compositions and traditional material drawing on bluegrass, pre-war folk, and a bit of the contemporary rock ‘n’ roll the guys were reared on.

ABOUT FOLK NEW ENGLAND
Founded by Betsy Siggins in 2009, FOLK New England’s mission is to document, preserve, interpret and present the ongoing cultural legacy of folk music in all its forms, with emphasis on New England’s contribution to the enrichment of North American life.

FOLK New England creates a dialogue between the history of folk music and the future of folk, through robust collections development, multi-disciplinary education, and engaging entertainment programs for the public.
FOLK New England is a 6-year old non-profit organization based in Massachusetts, not far from Harvard Square where the folk music revival of the 1960s kicked off a cultural revolution.

It is a living repository of folk music history materials, featuring 50 year-old audio recordings of rare performances and interviews; a photograph collection documenting the past and the active present of folk music; and a growing archive of personal papers, folk journals, and ephemera related to the folk music scene.
