Hear world-renowned master artists perform on the period instruments from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, with three individual lectures and demonstrations on the harpsichord, fortepiano, and clavichord.

The Golden Age of the Clavier is programed by Darcy Kuronen, Pappalardo Curator of Musical Instruments for the MFA and an internationally recognized authority on the history of musical instruments.

Each segment in the three-part series features a type of keyboard instrument, made by the most celebrated instrument makers in Europe, while a master musician perform Baroque and Classical music, including scores by Bach, Jansen, and Handel, on museum’s harpsichord, fortepiano, and clavichord.

The sessions highlight:

Part One: Exploration 1735 | 10:30AM to 12 Noon ALEXANDER WEIMANN, harpsichord featuring a 1736 French double-manual harpsichord by Henry Hemsch

Part Two: Theresa Jansen: Pupil, Dedicatee, and Composer | 12:30PM to 2PM TOM BEGHIN, fortepiano featuring a 1796 English grand piano by John Broadwood & Son

Part Three: 2:30PM to 4PM
LUC BEAUSÉJOUR, clavichord
featuring a 1796 German Clavichord by Johann Christoph Georg Schiedmayer
