THE HARVARD-RADCLIFFE CHORUS will be performing An Evening of French Music: Faure’s Requiem & Gounod’s St.Cecilia Mass.

Faure said it best...

“It has been said that my Requiem does not express the fear of death and someone has called it a lullaby of death.

But it is thus that I see death...

The music of Gounod has been criticised for its inclination towards human tenderness.

But his nature predisposed him to feel this way:religious emotion took this form inside him.

Is it not necessary to accept the artist's nature?'

We will be accompanied by professional soloists and musicians on violin, cello, harp, and a Rodgers organ.

Edward Elwyn Jones, Art Director, conducting
Ketti Muschler, soprano
Jonas Budris, tenor
David Tinervia, baritone
Thomas Sheehan, organ
