The 2:30 pm concert features NMYO's Prelude and Overture String Ensembles, Flute Choir, and the Intermezzo Orchestra, which will premiere a new composition, Along the Banks of the Ipswich River, written by the Intermezzo musicians along with NMYO composer-in-residence, Robert J. Bradshaw.

The 5:00 pm concert features NMYO's advanced ensembles including Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Select Flute Choir.

The winner of NMYO’s 2019 Concerto Competition, Eliza Reimold of Boxford, will perform the Stamitz Clarinet Concerto, No.

3 with the Symphony Orchestra.

Other selections performed at the concert will be masterworks by Britten, Erickson, and Clark.

NMYO concerts appeal to all ages, are family-friendly, and are a great way to expose children to orchestral music in a comfortable setting while supporting the musical training of the area’s finest young musicians.

Each concert will last approximately 90 minutes.

An Afternoon of Spring Concerts is sponsored in part by the Cape Ann Savings Bank, Carriage House Violins of Johnson String Instrument, Institution for Savings, New England BioLabs, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and the Ipswich Cultural Council.

NMYO provides youth musicians with exceptional ensemble training and opportunities for personal growth through musical performance and community service.

Led by Music Director Gerald J.

Dolan Jr., with an accomplished team of music professionals, NMYO’s 180 musicians come from more than 50 towns throughout northeast Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire and participate in one of seven ensembles offered by the program.

The regular rehearsal and concert schedule is supplemented with master classes, enrichment days, chamber music coaching, community service outreach concerts to underserved populations, and a composer in residence program.

You too can join NMYO!

Rehearsals are held weekly just off I-95 and Route 1 in Topsfield/Boxford.
NMYO is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.
