What is it about the ukulele that has made this instrument so infectious?

The ukulele has a care-free sound long associated with hula skirts, coconuts, and a slower-paced life.

This charming instrument has enjoyed a few renaissances, and we’re in the middle of one right now.

Pop stars such as Eddie Vedder and LP have whole albums dedicated to the “uke,” as many musicians refer to their instrument.

Join the Concord Conservatory of Music for the free Ukulele Taster at Reasons To Be Cheerful in West Concord on Tuesday, September 10th from 7:15 – 8:15 pm.

After an hour, you’ll fall in love with playing this happy and cool instrument and will probably want to join a class with your new friends.

Later in the night we’ll also jam, so bring your uke and make some music.

Ukuleles will be available to use for the evening, but it is advisable to bring your own if possible.

Plan to learn a song and treat yourself to ice cream, what could be more enjoyable?

Sign up at https://forms.gle/mQ7ByHkdnyWtWXux6 or show up for an entertaining evening.

CCM faculty member Phil Sargent will guide you and have you strumming along in no time.

You’ll learn how to hold the ukulele and learn some basic chords.

You’ll end up playing a foot-tapping song by the end of the ukulele taster.

Reasons to be Cheerful is located at 110 Commonwealth Avenue, Concord.

The Concord Conservatory of Music offer the Ukulele Crash Course for beginners as well as the Ukulele Club for those already more familiar with the instrument.

A monthly Uke Jam will be offered on Wednesday nights.

Jump on the bandwagon with your friends, and join the ukulele craze!
