Bossa nova was born on July 10, 1958, at the old Odeon recording studios in Rio de Janeiro.
On that day, Joćo Gilberto recorded 'Chega de Saudade,' the first bossa nova song, marking the beginning of a musical and worldwide cultural phenomenon.
Bossa nova vocalist Bebel Gilberto, daughter of Joćo Gilberto, made her Carnegie Hall debut at age 9 with her mother, the singer Miścha, and saxophonist Stan Getz.
