A contemporary classical concert for kids! As such the pieces will be abbreviated in length and it will be a casual affair for the whole family.

SLP is producing its first family concert—and what a show it will be!

All of the music performed, while still maintaining our experimental sound mission, will be geared towards children (of all ages) and their families.

The concert will be an abbreviated length, as will the pieces selected.

And there may be an opportunity for the kids to perform a piece as well.

Pauline Oliveros’ improvisational “Wind Horse” allows the performers and listeners alike to experience our relationship to vocal sounds (sung and unsung) and to eachother.

Tom Johnson’s “Narayana’s Cows” uses melody to solve an age-old Indian math problem.

In “Living Room Music”, John Cage asks the four percussion performers to use the very objects and even architectural aspects of a room to create music.

Lou Harrison’s “Varied Trio” is a favorite of SLP and our audience alike, using various percussion instruments to create a stunning tapestry.

And SLP director, Trevor Berens” is currently at work on a new piece for voice, guitar, and percussion, based on Edward Lear’s “The Duck and the Kangaroo.”

This will be a fun concert for all!
