This three-day, family-friendly event features ice sculptures, live music, dance, a soup social, art activities, author readings, and other interactive activities at multiple venues across Newton.

Kickoff our beloved annual winter celebration!

**Registration for this event is encouraged but not required

Dress warm and bring the whole family to this outdoor event featuring:

• live ice sculpture carving,
• the return of the Brighter Ignited interactive public art display,
• A capella performances from the Highland Glee Club Men's Chorus,
• free hot chocolate,
• glow sticks,
• Olaf from Frozen,
• and a Blanket Drive for Welcome Home

Event Highlights

Friday, January 23
5 – 6:30 pm, Newton Centre Green

WinterFEST kicks off with ice, music, and magic.
Enjoy live ice sculpture carving, a cappella performances, interactive art by Brighter Ignited, free hot chocolate and glow sticks, plus a visit from Olaf. Bring a blanket to donate to Welcome Home. See more details.

Flower Press Activity
Take a creative pause at Derby Flowers for a Flower Press Activity. Press winter botanicals and craft beautiful keepsakes, a meditative experience for all ages. See more details.

2 pm, Newton Community Stage

Women in World Jazz
Experience Women in World Jazz on the Newton Community Stage, an all-female international ensemble bringing global rhythms to Newton. Presented by the City of Newton’s Cultural Development Department and sponsored by Spark Newton, The Village Bank, and the UPS Store, Newton Centre. See more details.

WinterFEST at the Library: Family Fun, Winter Wonderland Edition
Drop in anytime in the hour for self-directed activities, crafts, and games for families with kids of all ages. See more details.

WinterFEST at the Library: DIY Snow Globes
Create your own winter wonderland in a jar with charms, water, glitter, glycerin, and more. For grades 5–12. Registration required. A second session of this event is running on Sunday. See more details.

Soup Social at the Hyde: A Delicious Tradition That Warms the Soul
Savor soup, hot chocolate, and ice cream from local restaurants, served by Newton notables, while White Collar Crime fills the air with live music. Meet Olaf from Frozen. See more details.

Sunday, January 25
10 am, West Newton Cinema

Film Screening of Abominable
Bundle up and head to West Newton Cinema for a cozy screening of Abominable. Plus, everyone gets free popcorn. See more details.

1 pm, New Art Center

Family Dance Party
Live music from the Stacey Peasley Band. Dance along with Olaf, and enjoy winter craft activities. See more details.
