Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras presents their Afternoon of Spring Concerts on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at the Dolan Performing Arts Center, 130 High Street, in Ipswich, MA. These two concerts are free to the public.

The 2:00 pm concert includes NMYO’s Prelude and Overture String Ensembles and the Intermezzo Orchestra featuring works by Soon Hee Newbold, John Williams, Elmer Bernstein, and others.

The 4:30 pm concert features NMYO’s advanced ensembles that are the Wind Ensemble, Select Flute Choir, and Symphony Orchestra.

The program is a mix of classical and contemporary music with compositions by Valerie Coleman, Kevin Day, Gustav Holst, Arturo Márquez, and more.

NMYO concerts are a great way to experience orchestral music while supporting the musical training of the area’s finest young musicians.

It is highly recommended that audience members be vaccinated and boosted.

Masks are encouraged while in the concert hall and lobby.

NMYO is committed to making its concerts accessible to all patrons and will make reasonable accommodations when possible.

For assistance contact the NMYO office.

The Institution for Savings, Massachusetts Cultural Council, Carriage House Violins of Johnson Stringed Instruments, Cape Ann Savings Bank, Coburn Charitable Society, Beauport Financial Services, Demoulas Foundation, and New England Biolabs are NMYO Season Sponsors.

The Ipswich, Boxford, and Topsfield Cultural Councils, along with a host of local businesses, also lend their support.

NMYO provides youth musicians with exceptional ensemble training and opportunities for cognitive, social, and personal growth through musical performance and community service.

Led by Music Director Gerald J. Dolan Jr., with an accomplished team of music professionals, NMYO’s 132 musicians come from 40+ towns throughout northeast Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire and participate in one of six ensembles offered by the program this year.

The regular rehearsal and concert schedule is supplemented with master classes, enrichment days, chamber music coaching, and outreach concerts to underserved populations.

You too can join NMYO!

Auditions for the 2022-2023 concert season take place Saturday, June 11.

Rehearsals are held weekly just off I-95 and Route 1 in Topsfield/Boxford.

NMYO is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.
