The Boston Philharmonic Orchestra's 46th season opens triumphantly with Beethoven's Egmont Overture followed by Brahms's only violin concerto, featuring former Berlin Philharmonic concertmaster Guy Braunstein (He also opened last year's season with his memorable rendition of Elgar's Violin Concerto followed by an encore featuring his interpretation of The Beatles' 'Blackbird,' inspired by the protests surrounding the death of George Floyd.)The concert concludes with Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra, a brilliant orchestral showcase commissioned by the Boston Symphony Orchestra's Serge Koussevitzky, who would have been 150 this year.
