The North End Music & Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC) is proud to continue our new Artist Series, with a concert entitled Persian Songs Old + New, featuring performers Vanessa Naghdi (voice), Fred Springer (guitar), and Sepehr Davallou (piano).

This concert will highlight well-known Persian songs as well as new and contemporary songs by Persian composers.

Vanessa Naghdi—the lead performer and curator of this concert—finds that the beauty in Persian culture is that it spans centuries, connecting generations across time and space.

Vanessa is herself half-Persian and much of her family is from Iran.

Sepehr Davallou is an Iranian citizen living and working in Boston, having just finished graduate studies at New England Conservatory.

With a sizable Persian community in the Boston area who greatly appreciate and support the arts, music, and literature, Vanessa wants concertogers to learn that these areas of artistic expression are so much a part of Persian culture.

The melodies and texts presented in this concert reflect the idea that the more specific we get with repertoire, the more universal the text and storytelling becomes.

This event is ticketed with pricing at $35 (General Admission) $25 (Students) and a pay-what-you-can option.

Ticket includes access to the private gallery for viewing, the concert, and a brief wine & cheese reception.
