THE GLIMMER STARS - “All rock and roll was meant to be fun.

Period.

That’s the bottom line”, says singer/bassist Mini Mendez in describing the vibe of his band, The Glimmer Stars.

This LA Rock/Pop trio (Steven Soto - guitar, Richie Mendez -drums) have been gigging for more than a few years to say the least and appear to be showing no signs of slowing down.

Formed some two decades ago, The Glimmer Stars have become a fixture on the LA Rock/Pop music scene with their infectious, hard hitting, delightful delivering of all songs meant to inspire smiles and rock and roll dreaming.

The group has been able to fit on many a different live lineup or compilation disc because they can fit almost anywhere; tough enough to hang with leather wearing rockers, but also Power Pop enough to round out a fizzy/fuzzy stroll through the park.

Boston record label darlings, Rum Bar Records, released the band’s full-length, The Rise Of The Glimmer Stars, in 2024, and a new LP is soon on the way.

“This band has had a life of its own. We're just trying to stay out of the way”, adds Mendez.

TOM BAKER AND THE DOUBLE DOWN - Formed in 2019, this super-group is made up of Boston stalwart rockers (Dirty Truckers, Smoke Shop, Nature Machine, Township, Other Brother Daryl, Haymakers and Tad Overbaugh & the Late Arrivals - to name a few).

They have monthly residencies around town and play a blend of self-described “loose” rock, country and soul.

With a repertoire of over 70 tunes, no one show is ever the same.

60% of the time they make sure that is true every time.

JAY ALLEN AND THE ARCHCRIMINALS - Across eight songs, each hovering around the three-minute mark, Allen’s gruff vocals – backed by a thick layer of distorted guitar and solid drumming – deliver singalong choruses that stay with you like a homemade stick and poke tattoo.

The rambling unpolished charm of the music is simply undeniable.

The record’s opening track, “Cry A Little Tear,” is a punk rock doo wop sob story with Boston’s Emily Grogan guesting on vocals.

Elsewhere, “Grew Some Stones is the album’s zenith, as ridiculously fun as it is immature.”- New Noise Magazine

“It really is impossible to listen to without smiling, and here with The Archcriminals, he might have masterminded his greatest heist” Maximum Volume Music
