Johnson's bittersweet country songwriting conveys the muted tint of a Pacific Northwest sunset.

He has quietly cut his teeth in Seattle for years, tending bar between local gigs, before his 2023 full-length debut, Nothing For Me, Please, nudged him under a brighter spotlight.

Across 11 tracks on his new album, Johnson's haunting tenor vocals crest over muted instrumentals peppered with brushed drums and slide guitar swells.

Each of the album’s tracks contains jocular social commentary or lovingly rendered affairs of the heart.

There are songs that have been in his setlists for years, and others that will be new to fans.

I Hope We Can Still Be Friends, with its sharp observations and stirring personal insights, holds space for both intense reflection and emotional release.
