Which Side?: A Protest Music Teach-Out is a concert and discussion series celebrating and exploring protest music.

The events will use James Sullivan’s book, Which Side Are You On?: 20th Century American History in 100 Protest Songs, as a starting point for the presentation of songs that ask listeners to consider how music gives voice to resistance, advocacy, and change.

While the series will anchor itself to the book, collaborators will also contribute 21st-century music, both originals and covers.

The show is scheduled to begin promptly at 8pm

Admission is pay-what-you-want, with all proceeds going to the musicians and other direct expenses.

Tickets can be reserved, but a reservation does not guarantee entry unless you are in the room by 7:30pm If there are people waiting for entry, reservations will be released starting at that time.

If there are any profits after workers are paid, they will be donated to an appropriate non-profit fighting for intellectual freedom in our nation’s courts.

This series is produced by Joyce Linehan, Jon Lupfer, and James Sullivan, with the help of many generous friends.

The lineup for November includes Victoria Cardona, Ali McGuirk, Yaryna Tsymbal, Barrence Whitfield, Thalia Zedek, and The Funtime Hour Players.

They will be backed by the Which Side house band, called The Paid Protesters, led by Ed Valauskas.

The 90-minute show will also feature commentary by Sullivan, and a short discussion at the end.
