As part of NEMPAC’s collaborative Artist Series, audiences are invited to experience The Reign of Her: An Exploration of the Feminine Sound.

This concert challenges long-held perceptions in classical music, where the feminine sound has too often been misunderstood or mislabeled.

Instead, it is presented here as resonant, expressive, and shaped by a distinct artistic perspective that brings fresh energy, technique, and imagination to the stage.

Led by a groundbreaking woman in the field, Marisa Sardo, the program spotlights authentic music through a female lens, redefining what classical guitar can be and how it can be heard.

The concert explores the rich textures and emotional depth of the feminine sound, the contrasts and connections between male and female approaches to the instrument, and the guitar’s universal ability to connect across ages, genders, cultures, and languages.

More than a performance, this event represents a bold reimagining of classical guitar—one that challenges tradition, celebrates diversity, and expands the future of the art form.

Audiences are invited to rediscover the guitar, reimagine the stage, and experience the power of the feminine sound.

This event includes a cheese and wine reception prior to the concert starting at 7 PM, complimentary with your ticket purchase.

There are several parking lots within a few minutes’ walk on Commercial Street, including the Sargent’s Wharf Lot (269 Commercial Street).
For public transportation you will want to take the Green or Orange Lines to North Station or Haymarket (the walk is about 10-15 minutes from there), or the Blue Line at Aquarium (also about a 10-15 minute walk to the venue).
