The Soul of Epirus is a program rooted in Traditional Greek music that brings together two Grammy-nominated composer-performers: Epirus-born laouto virtuoso Vasilis Kostas and Cypriot percussionist George Lernis.Grounded in the soulful clarinet traditions of Epirus and enriched by the improvisatory language of jazz, their collaboration bridges village melodies with contemporary compositional voices.
Featuring the laouto alongside Mediterranean hand percussion, the program unfolds through swelling rhythms and deeply expressive melodies shaped by centuries of oral tradition.
Together, they honor ancestral roots while crafting a vibrant, cross-cultural musical narrative for today’s global stage.
