The Orchestra Without Borders and The Ally Project present a program bridging the boundaries between jazz and classical music, celebrating the legacy of Duke Ellington.

Featuring for strings and jazz combo, including transcriptions of music by Duke Ellington by Jonathan Fagan, jazz pianist and founder of the Medford Jazz Festival, Homecoming explores the cross-pollination of jazz and classical music composed by Black American musicians during the 20th and 21st centuries.

The concert includes music by Duke Ellington and William Grant Still, composers whose output straddled the classical and jazz worlds, as well as poetry by Terry Carter, whose works explore the deep resonance of jazz and music in contemporary life.
