The Wakefield Independence Day Parade returns on July 4, 2026 at 5:00 PM, continuing a beloved community tradition dating back to 1922.
Billed as the largest Fourth of July parade in Massachusetts, this two-mile procession draws thousands of spectators to the streets of Wakefield, just 10 miles north of Boston.
The parade steps off at Lakeside Office Park on North Avenue and travels through Church Street and Common Street, concluding on Main Street at Galvin Middle School.
Festivities feature DCI drum and bugle corps, high school marching bands, floats, antique vehicles, costumed characters, street performers, and historical reenactors.
FIREWORKS!
The day wraps up with a fireworks display over Lake Quannapowitt.
Floats compete for prizes in two divisions: Non-Profit Organization and Business. The parade is free to attend. Donations are accepted at givebutter.com/3c27dw to help keep the tradition going.
