Concord Museum Hosts Firelight Theatre ‘We Were Friends’ Play
A playful reimagining of Margaret Fuller and Ralph Waldo Emerson’s profound friendship

On August 15, 2024, the Concord Museum will host the award-winning Firelight Theatre Workshop for the presentation of We Were Friends, a playful reimagining of Margaret Fuller and Ralph Waldo Emerson’s profound friendship set in today’s world.

This play will be performed on the Museum grounds which used to be a part of the Emerson family fruit orchard.

‘We Were Friends’ is a 12-part series that moves non-chronologically, with each adding a piece to the puzzle of Fuller and Waldo’s friendship. In this episode And Then: Late Night, Firelight explores the intimate and private moments of this deep, platonic friendship in its early stages, on a restless night in Waldo’s garage.

The Concord Museum is proud to host this playful reimagining, and guests can also explore the Museum, which contains the contents of Ralph Waldo Emerson's

original studio and arguably the best portrait sculpture of the famous writer, sculpted by Daniel Chester French in 1873.

Bring a picnic and blanket and join Margaret and Waldo on the Museum’s front lawn for this outdoor performance. Tickets are $10 for members and $12 for non members. Tickets can be purchased at the Concord Museum or online.
