June 22 – Sink or Float: Join the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum's education staff to learn about what kinds of objects sink or float!

First, we will read What Floats in a Moat.

Then, we will test a wide range of household items to see if they sink or float (or both!).

Finally, we'll use what we learned to create our own boats.

June 29 – Water and the 3 States of Matter: Join the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum's education staff live at the museum to learn about water and the three states of matter!

First, we will read from Change it!

Solids, Liquids, Gases and You!

Then, we will learn how molecules act in each state of matter with a movement-based game.

Finally, we will create paintings with ice cubes!

July 6 – A Raindrop’s Journey: Join the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum's education staff to learn how water gets from a rain cloud to your home!

First, we will read A Raindrop's Journey.

After reviewing the water cycle on our felt board, we will move like a raindrop through a waterworks 'jungle gym'.

Finally, we will make our own water system 'maps.'

July 13 – Bringing Water Home: Join Waterworks Museum education staff to learn how hard it is for people around the world without a waterworks system to get water.

First, we will read “The Water Princess.” Then, we will try out different tools people use to get water to their homes when they don't have access to a waterworks system.

Finally, we will decorate our own water carrying mugs.

Supplies are limited, so please register in advance!

July 20 – Saving Water: Join Waterworks Museum Staff live at the museum as we look at different ways to save water.

First, we will read 'Why Should I Save Water?' Then, we will explore how much water is takes to create different foods we like and to do different household chores.

Finally, we will decorate our own reusable bags which can not only help us save water but help prevent water pollution!

July 27 – Working Against Water Pollution: Join Waterworks Museum Education Staff live at the museum to learn about ways keep surface water clean and help the earth!

First, we will read, 'Not for me please, I choose to Act Green.' Then we will practice 'acting green' by cleaning up a pretend pond.

Finally, we will make happy fish to swim in our newly cleaned ponds.

Aug 3 – Animals Around the Reservoir: Join Waterworks Museum education staff live at the museum as we learn about the different animals that call the Chestnut Hill Reservoir home.

First, we will read 'Just Ducks.' Next, we will learn about some of the different animals that live around the reservoir.

Then, we will go on a nature scavenger hunt.

Finally, we will make our own animal masks.

Aug 10 – What’s an Engineer?

Join the Metropolitan Waterworks Museum's education staff to learn what it takes to be an engineer!

First, we will read 'Rosie Revere, Engineer.' Then, we will learn about some simple machines by exploring the museum's Great Engines Hall.

Finally, we will create our own simple machines.
