The Revere Beach Kite Festival is one of Boston’s most anticipated May events. For both the young and the young at heart, the Kite Festival provides participants with opportunity to soar their kites high into the air or to simply stand by and watch as hundreds of kites fill the sky.During the Revere Beach Kite Festival, participants are invited to bring their own kites to show off during the day. The festival also gives out free kites to the first 300 kids under the age of 12 who show up to fly a kite. To receive a complimentary kite, plan on being there before the 11:00 am start time.
Located just five miles north of Boston in the city of Revere, Revere Beach provides lovely views as it faces the Massachusetts Bay. The Nahant and Winthrop peninsulas frame the horizon, while distant lighthouses and passing steamers create additional scenic views.
The Revere Beach Kite Festival is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 17th. In addition to being open for kite flying, the festival also offers opportunity to enjoy some local delicacies. Fried clams and lobster rolls can be purchased at Kelly’s Roast Beef, which is located across from the pavilion near the Blue Line’s Wonderland Station.
Participation in the Revere Beach Kite Festival is free. Free parking is also available along Ocean Avenue and on Revere Beach Boulevard, though there are often time restrictions placed on these parking spots. Free parking lots are also available near the Wonderland MBTA Station.
