Lots of fun activities await you at the Boston Children's Museum during April Vacation.

What’s your favorite play memory? Riding a bike outside? Camping out in a fort that you constructed? Playing with blocks, dolls, or games? Spring into Play at Boston Children’s Museum during April Vacation Week, April 15–21, 2024!

Painting with Pencils, Mystery Bags making projects, Marble Maze Workshops and Building with PVC pipes will be happening during the month as well as a special Cardboard Play! experience.

Create, dress up, dance, sing, laugh, and have a pretend tea party in a month-long celebration of all things play. Join the fun and enjoy creative, hands-on, open-ended play!

Come and experiment with familiar and unfamiliar materials, create with cardboard and enjoy special performances in our KidStage theater.

Cardboard Play!
Daily during April Vacation, April 15–21
Create with cardboard! More than just boxes, cardboard is a building material that fuels imaginations. Make a jetpack! An Ice cream truck! A cave! A fort! A bridge! A drum set! Or even a puppet theater!

Playful Movement Workshop with Urbanity Dance
Tuesday, April 16
In this workshop visitors will explore Urbanity’s signature style of creative movement, blending a wide range of dance techniques with music, imagination, and exploration. Children will focus on flexibility, balance, and coordination while learning how to follow directions, work together, and express themselves!

Boston Lyric Opera Stories: Cinderella
Wednesday, April 17
Join Boston Lyric Opera for Opera Stories, an interactive performance of Cinderella for all ages, but best for kids aged 5-12. Learn how we bring the story of an opera to life through music, acting, and movement. In this dynamic, 35-minute presentation, two professional singers, a pianist, and a teaching artist engage audiences in this interactive introduction to opera.

Pigs in Space
Wednesday, April 17
9:30–11:30am
Sometimes fun and surprising things happen during Spring into Play week! Have you been to our Dinos in Space exhibit? Well, today, pigs are taking over. Come get to know some friendly pigs in space who will be taking up residence in the exhibit for one morning only.

Workshop with Urbanity Dance Playful Movement
Thursday, April 18

Studio Playground: Clowning & Improv Workshop
Friday, April 19
Join Studio Playground at Boston Children’s Museum! Studio Playground teaches classes for all ages based on clown and physical acting. Clowning invites students to explore the health benefits of laughter through movement, games, and playful improvisation. This class includes a vocal and physical warm up, interactive storytelling, and performance projects. Let’s laugh, sing, and make a beautiful ruckus!

Discover the magic of watercolor pencils and explore the best of both worlds – painting and drawing.

PVC Creations!
Sunday, April 21
9:30–11:30am and 1:30–3:30pm
Build with PVC pipes and connectors. Make your own project or work together with a friend!
