The Tufts EPCS early childhood April Vacation Program is an enrichment program that provides fun and engaging projects taught by experienced teachers and specialists. This program is offered to children, preschool - grade 2 (4yrs-8yrs).

Located at the Eliot-Pearson Children's School at Tufts University, this early childhood vacation week program is just the ticket for fun and learning during April Vacation.

This program runs Tuesday through Friday and offers both full day and half day.
Along with group circle time, singing and outdoor play we have integrated dance, theater, science and nature into the schedule.

Below read more information about some of the activities.
Movement & Dance:
• Physical: Self-control, refinement of gross motor skills; development of fine motor skills; and understanding of the relationship between one’s body and the space around oneself.
• Social/Affective: Listening; responding; taking turns and working cooperatively.
• Cognitive: Recognizing, recalling, identifying, differentiating and sequencing movements.

• Aesthetic: Choosing and expressing preference for dance movements.
Theater:
We are partnering with the North Shore Children’s Theatre (NSCT) which is an arts education based program for the school vacation week programs.

Take part in theater games, the planning process, dramatic exercises and perform to parents at the end of the week!
Integrating Engineering & Literacy and Robotics:
We are partnering with the Tufts University Center for Engineering Education and Outreach (CEEO), which is a leader in supporting efforts to integrate engineering into K-12 education.

Plan, process, build and have fun!
Gardening Program:
Gardening provides a unique platform for learning about the nature, ecology, as well as where our food comes from.

During April vacation we will be starting a new garden plot provided by the Curriculum Lab.

Children will learn about greenhouses, raised beds, container gardening, seeds and germination, compost piles, and worm composting.

We will begin projects that will carry on into the summer and children will be able to see and taste the fruits of their work.
Art Activities:
During the April vacation, children will participate in fun and open ended art projects.

We aim to provide an environment for free expression and experimentation in a variety of mediums.

We seek to utilize recycled materials provided by the Beautiful Stuff Project as well as traditional art materials.

Art activities will involve painting, sculpture, origami, collaborative projects, and mixed media.
