Come participate in our brain development study! We'll play games and then take a cool picture of your brain! We are neuroscientists in the MIT Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences studying how the brain develops and functions in children.

-Who is eligible?
We welcome children between the ages of 5 and 12.

-What will my child do during the study?
Your child will play a variety of fun games with researchers. Many of the games are played on computers, and others involve the use of toys, props, and books. Your child will also have pictures of their brain taken in our fMRI scanner. Children are given plenty of opportunities to have snacks and relax in our playroom. Children get to bring home pictures of their brain!

-What is fMRI?
FMRI stands for functional magnetic resonance imaging. It is a safe and noninvasive way of studying the brain. Scanners use strong magnets and radiowaves to make pictures of the brain.

-When can we participate?
At your convenience, but please call ahead to make an appointment. Most children visit our lab two or three times to complete the full battery of tests. At the completion of each testing session, children receive gift cards (up to $150.00) and small gifts to thank them for their participation. We have free parking for families and provide snacks and meals on longer visits.

If you have questions about any of these changes, please call me at 617-800-6008.
