Do kids collect things like their grandparents and parents did when they were young?

Are today’s children still interested in gathering baseball cards, comic books, post cards, shells, rocks, sea glass, dolls, old records, bottle caps and many other interesting objects of our culture or have computer games won out?

Come find out as the Spellman Museum of Stamps & Postal History on the Regis College campus in Weston holds an intergenerational “Show and Tell” day on Saturday, September 10 from 10:00 to 12:00.

Grandparents and parents are invited to bring their children and grandchildren to the Museum with parts of their collections of all types of objects to share with everyone and explain what and why they collect.

All types of collections are welcome.
Several serious adult collectors will attend with their rarer and more valuable objects including old comic books and samples of British mailbox souvenirs and the museum will have on display its unique letter openers collections.

Children will be given free postage stamps and a stamp album to encourage them to start the hobby of stamp collecting.

The Museum’s galleries will be open for scavenger hunts with special exhibits of stamps featuring the Olympics.

Prizes will be given to people who bring the most unusual collections.

The program is being held in collaboration with Bridges Together in Sudbury, a non-profit organization that is celebrating Intergenerational Awareness Month in September.

Many organizations are holding events in September designed to bring all ages together.

More information about these program is available at www.bridgestogether.org.

Information about the Spellman program is available at [email protected] or 617-784-5838.

Regular admission will be charged.
