Come celebrate craft and scholarship at the USS Constitution Museum’s Salute to Maritime Heritage and presentation of the Don Turner and Samuel Eliot Morison Awards on Thursday, August 9, 2018.

Join us as our honorees discuss their vital contributions to nautical culture, followed by a reception with hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer.

The celebration will conclude as we observe evening colors pierside at 7:53pm.

The 2018 recipient of the Don Turner Award:

PT-305 Restoration Team
National WWII Museum, New Orleans, LA Over the past decade, a team of staff and volunteers at the National WWII Museum in New Orleans, LA has worked to fully restore a World War II-era PT Boat using primary sources and original parts as often as possible.

Completed in 2016, PT-305 is now the only fully operational PT Boat accessible to the public today.

The Don Turner Award is given annually to a person or team of people who have contributed to efforts to preserve important vessels or who have made significant contributions to our knowledge and understanding of ship design and construction.

The 2018 recipient of the Samuel Eliot Morison Award:

The Samuel Eliot Morison Award honors a person whose public service has enhanced the image of USS Constitution and who reflects the best of Admiral Morison: artful scholarship, patriotic pride, and eclectic interest in the sea and things maritime and a desire to preserve the best of our past for future generations.
