THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED Due to the very hands-on, personally interactive nature of this event, WGBH has decided that for everyone’s health and safety they will cancel the event.
On Saturday, March 14, WGBH will host the second annual Day of Exploration, a kids and family event featuring a range of activities, craft projects, costumed characters, music and more at WGBH’s Brighton studios.
As a part of WGBH’s mission for accessibility, the event will feature a sensory-friendly hour from 10-11 am, designed for guests with special needs and sensory-friendly preferences.
From 11 am-1 pm and 1-3 pm will be two separate general admission sessions for $10 per person (or $30 for a family of four).
Sensory-Friendly Hour: (10-11am)
The first hour caters to guests with special needs. We will ensure that activities during this first hour are supportive to those who require a sensory-friendly environment. WGBH will have a quiet space and a self-directed space where guests can read, relax or color.
Audio from music piped into the event spaces and noise volume is lower during this special hour, and guests can walk around during the event as much as needed.
We will do our best to have this period remain a sensory-friendly environment. We want to advise parents and guardians that general admission guests will arrive at 11am. That may be a hectic time of transition for sensory-friendly guests.
General Admission Sessions
The general admission portion of this event is an open house format from 11am to 3pm. The event is geared towards families with children under age 8. Upon arrival, kids receive a passport that we stamp after they participate in activities navigate around our studios.
Kids will enjoy interactive craft projects, learning more about musical instruments and even have an opportunity to get their photo taken with PBS costume characters Arthur, Curious George, Clifford and Word Girl.
