Registration required. Tickets are on a timed entry on the hour from 10 AM - 3 PM.

Community Day is one of the most fun, lively ways to find out. Get ready for an incredible journey filled with discovery (and some surprises.)

Get up close with our remarkable collections with curator and staff-led show and tells
Immerse yourself in our newest exhibition 'Developing Boston:Berenice Abbott and Irene Shwachman Photograph a Changing City” and see views of Boston from the ‘30s and the ‘60s.
Meet renowned artist Ekua Holmes and learn about her vibrant streetscape mural that fills our Children’s Library with color and life. Flex your creative muscles by making your own book, or join in a scavenger hunt Log your steps by climbing our stairs to the iconic fifth floor for soaring views and a glimpse of our local red-tailed hawks
The Athenaeum is a unique combination of library, museum, and cultural center, a member-supported, not-for-profit institution that everyone is invited to join.
Our members, visitors, and staff come from all backgrounds and all the neighborhoods of Boston and surrounding communities, united by our curiosity about literature, culture, art, ideas, and the world.
