Dance Prism’s newly re-visited ballet, King Arthur & the Magic of Merlin, brings to life the exploits of King Arthur, the Knights of the Round Table, and Arthur’s mentor, the fabled sorcerer Merlin, evoking a magical time when cavorted through the meadows of Britain.
The narrative traverses the exciting battles of sword-wielding warriors, the romances of knights and princesses, and, under Merlin’s mystical guidance, the growth of an orphaned boy into England’s most legendary King.
The production will be presented at Andover’s Collins Center on April 14, at Curtis Auditorium in Sudbury on April 27, and at the Performing Arts Center in Littleton on April 28, each at 2:30 pm.
All performances will be followed by a complimentary reception with sweet treats and an opportunity for young audience members to meet King Arthur, Merlin, Lancelot, Guinevere and other principal characters.
The ballet in its original form was created in 2003 by a collaborative team of Dance Prism choreographers, including company Artistic Director Mary Demaso, Miranda Bailey, Clarissa Eaton, and Jonathan Towle, and de-signer Nancy Bailey.
The current version incorporates knightly combat training and choreography by dancer and Army Ranger SFC (Ret,) Terry Blogg.
