I (Matt Heaton) am releasing my fourth full-length album of songs for kids & families.

It’s called All of Us. And I had no idea how prescient that title would come to be!

I started writing songs for it way back in 2016.

After the disastrous results of the last presidential election, I was looking for a way to deal with the fact that Donald John Trump is actually living in the White House.

Particularly when he and his followers were really directing their ire toward immigrants from—well, anywhere but Europe—I wondered how it would feel to be a little kid living with that kind of poisonous attitude?

So the title track “Welcome Here” emerged.

The chorus goes:

America is all of us, we all ride the same big bus Share a welcome with a friend, we’ll all get there in the end

The idea, obviously, is that we’re stronger as a nation when we work together, and try to help each other.

I’ve been singing it at the start of each show for years now.

It’s taken on a whole new meaning during the Corona Virus lockdown.
