Big Sister Boston makes and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships between thousands of women and girls throughout Greater Boston each year.

Our Big and Little Sister relationships last an average of more than three years and yield positive outcomes for girls in confidence, academic achievement, interpersonal relationships, and healthy decision-making.

Our professional staff matches a girl in the Greater Boston service area between the ages of 7 and 15 with a woman who is at least 20 years old, based on shared preferences and interests.

Since 1951, Big Sister Boston has evolved our programming to meet the needs of Greater Boston’s girls, and this current moment is no different!

Our professional staff continue to enroll girls in our program, match them with a Big Sister, and provide award-winning support and guidance to each Big Sister, Little Sister, and Little Sister’s family.

All of this is being done online at the moment, including virtual visits between Big and Little Sister.

Our staff are ready and available to provide virtual activity ideas and opportunities in addition to consistent, customized support.

Research has shown that social isolation can be particularly harmful to girls.

Having a positive, adult woman mentor outside the family can provide crucial social connection that is needed now more than ever.
