Punk Rock Aerobics for Kids & Adults
Punk Rock Aerobics, the original DIY workout which took the nation by storm in 2000, continues celebrating its 20-year anniversary with special virtual exercise classes for kids and adults from Boston this fall.
Co-creator Hilken Mancini will continue to host Punk Rock Aerobics for “grown-ups” Tuesdays at 6pm (EST) on Facebook and Instagram live, and for kids and families on Thursdays at 4pm (EST) via Zoom. Check it out.
Admission for either is $12 per household. Tickets may be purchased online at www.punkrockaerobics.com or through Eventbrite. A portion of proceeds will benefit Girls Rock Campaign Boston, a non-profit co-founded by Mancini to empower girls, women, and those in marginalized communities.
This month we’ve started holding classes for kids age 8 and up! We’ve made the workout easier and shorter. Holding true to PRA’s original concept—there are three exercise moves to each song, just like there are three chords in a punk rock song.
It’s a virtual half-hour class teaching simple exercises disguised in classic punk dance moves set to classic punk songs by The Ramones, The Rezillos, The Slits, and more. Kids get an education in punk rock music and parents get to listen to their favorite songs while getting fit with their families.”
PRA was featured on MTV, in Rolling Stone Magazine, Newsweek, People, The New York Times, and more. Their book Punk Rock Aerobics: 75 Killer Moves, 50 Punk Classics, and 25 Reasons to Get Off Your Ass and Exercise was published in 2004 (DaCapo Press).
