This year, Citizens will once again be partnering with museums and non-profits throughout the communities it serves to deliver enriching activities to celebrate Dr. King’s dedication to service and his passion for strengthening communities.

• Sponsored Event: Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA) MLK Jr. Community Celebration Date: January 18th Location: Boston, MA (Virtual)

Details: The Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) hosts the Annual MLK, Community Celebration, offering special programming through a virtual celebration on Monday, January 18th, and continuing with a special exhibit featuring local artist Ekua Holmes beginning in early summer sponsored by Citizens.

• Sponsored Event: Yale Peabody Museum 25th Annual MLK Celebration Date: January 14th – 18th Location: New Haven, CT (Virtual)

Details: Citizens is the exclusive presenting sponsor of the 25th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Legacy of Social and Environmental Justice which has been reimagined and transformed into a digital festival experience with a series of free programs in the days leading up to the celebration of Dr. King’s birthday.

Events will be accessible to participants of all ages in New Haven, across the region, and around the country.

Programming will focus on the future of social and environmental justice with opportunities to engage in critical dialogue and enjoy storytelling, music, dance, and spoken word performances.

Details: Citizens will be the presenting sponsor of the Providence Children's Museum MLK Day Celebration.

This celebration will feature skits, interactive activities, readings, and a theatrical performance for children that they can tune into virtually at home or in school.

Details: The African American Museum in Philadelphia and the Citizens Charitable Foundation are partnering on a full weekend of enriching, fun, inspirational, family-friendly activities celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year’s celebration includes morning programming for youth and family, weekend film screenings and poetry, virtual tours of the museum’s latest exhibition “Rendering Justice,” and special MLK keynote with “Marking Time” author Nicole Fleetwood.

Details: Citizens is sponsoring Poetry Unplugged (PU), a night of spoken word and music featuring artists from around the country using the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as inspiration.

PU will be a night of TRUTH and POWER.

Mahogany Browne hosts an evening filled with award-winning spoken word artists known for their fierce delivery and ability to move the crowd.

Featured poets include Jessica Care Moore, Ursula Rucker, Mahogany Browne and more!

Wright Museum of African American History Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Annual Celebration Date: January 18th
Location: Detroit, MI (Virtual)

Details: Citizens is sponsoring the Wright’s virtual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Annual Celebration featuring a gospel performance by Ebenezer Missionary Church and presentations by prominent civil rights activists and youth from Teen Hype and Detroit's Police Athletic League.

The Wright will offer free admission to the community on January 18.

Home to the Blanche Coggin Underground Railroad Collection, the Harriet Tubman Museum Collection, and the Sheffield Collection—a repository of documents regarding the labor movement in Detroit—among many other notable materials, The Wright houses more than 35,000 artifacts pertaining to the African-American experience.

The Wright inspires visitors toward greater understanding, acceptance, and unity by reflecting on the triumphs and tragedies of African-American history.
