Kicking off in February 2021 to coincide with Black History Month, The BASE will launch a 3-part series, The Power of Sports.
Bringing together sports thought leaders locally, regionally, and nationally, The BASE will convene panels to discuss the role that sports play to advance justice and equity, one way being industry careers.
This panel series will lead up to The BASE’s National Urban Sports Classic in August 2021, a convening of hundreds of urban players from across the country for competition, college visits, networking, and experiencing Boston.

About The BASE
The BASE as an organization shifts to change the mindset about what it takes for urban youth to succeed, and to build a movement of citizens committed to their success.
Where others see “at risk-underserved-disadvantaged,” we see talent, hard work, and dedication, and we develop those assets.
We are showing the nation that Urban Talent is American Talent.
The BASE serves 1,500 student-athletes ages 6-19 annually, primarily from the Boston neighborhoods of Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mattapan.
The majority of our students are LatinX or Black and attend Boston Public Schools.
The BASE uses sports as a passion point to connect with young people and ultimately put them on pathways to higher education and meaningful careers.
All BASE programming and services are offered free of charge.
