LEARNING TO DRAW FOR LIFE
Beginner Level 1
Small Group Classes (max 5 students)
80 minutes $360 for 8 weeks ($45/week)

Tuesdays 1-2:20pm
September 14, 21, 28 | Oct. 5, 12, 19, 26 | Nov. 2

Wednesdays 1-2:20pm
September 15, 22, 29 | Oct. 6, 13, 20, 27 | Nov. 3

In this 8-week course taught online, local artist Mei-Ling Ellerman will teach the fundamentals of drawing.

Exercises and individualized feedback will strengthen your skills of observation, which will in turn rapidly improve your ability to draw accurately.

While drawing realistic portraits, figures, still lifes, and animals, you will also have the opportunity to work with different mediums (graphite pencil, conte crayon pencils, colored pencils).

In Level I, we will study aspects of contour drawing, negative space, shading, proportions, perspective, and color.

Once you learn and practice these fundamental skills and incorporate individual feedback, you will be able to draw with far greater accuracy.

A list of materials will be provided upon sign-up or request.

Rave Review
Mei-Ling is a wonderful teacher.

While focusing on the fundamentals of drawing, she more importantly takes you through exercises that allow you 'to see' your subject in a new, more realistic and authentic way.

Starting with a detailed explanation of some aspect of drawing (tone, composition), Mei-Ling shows examples of pictures, both from the masters and contemporary artists.

She takes you through a series of smaller exercises, where you are drawing, culminating in a larger project, always pointing out what you have done well and where you need to work a bit more.

She is patient, kind, knowledgeable, while encouraging you to work harder and deeper for maximum results and satisfaction.

I look forward to continuing to learn from her.
