Microplastics—the broken down byproduct of plastic items we toss out every day—are choking our oceans. But Massachusetts high school student and author Anna DU is on the case.

She witnessed this problem first hand with microplastics floating up on the beaches near her home in Boston, MA.

Even though a middle schooler at the time…..Anna decided to do tackle this pollution problem head on.

Join Anna as she shares her account from her book, Microplastics and Me, of how she went from worrying about the environment to designing award-winning solutions as well as laying out a framework for would be environmentalists to follow.

You will learn the:
- Science of the microplastics problem
- Engineering and design of her ROV
- Use of research and data as part of the solution
- Tips and techniques for winning at science fairs
- Roadmap of how you can become an environmental conservationist

Anna’s interest in saving the ocean from plastics pollution helped her place first in the Massachusetts Science and Engineering Fair and win the 2021 Sanofi Genzyme award; become a nationally recognized Broadcom MASTERS semifinalist; win scholarships; be featured on WGBH, Huffington Post, FOX 25 News, Fast Company and Smithsonian Magazine.

Her goal is to spread the word not only about the dangers of microplastics in our environment, but also about the ways to mitigate this problem.

She is looking for young people everywhere to join her in helping solve world problems that will face their generation as they get older, and to prevent further damage to the climate and the environment to help preserve Earth for generations to come.

Want to join her in this good fight?
