Room to Grow, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of babies born into poverty in Boston, will host its annual Celebrating Mothers Breakfast on Tuesday, May 9 at 8:00 AM at the Mandarin Oriental, Boston.

The event celebrates inspirational mothers, provides attendees with an opportunity to honor their own mothers, and supports a unique organization where low-income babies and their parents are given hope for a bright future.

The event program will feature a dialogue about healthy eating, access to quality food for all, and positive family meal rituals.

Special guests include Gary Hirshberg who was ahead of his time when he co-founded Stonyfield Farm in 1983.

He and the company were at the forefront of helping family farms survive and keeping food and food production healthy using organic methods.

His passion for healthy choices is still strong and now serves as Chairman of Stonyfield Farm and Chairman of Just Label It.

Also joining the conversation is Cheryl Cronin, a longtime Boston resident and prominent local leader with decades of experience as a manager of and advocate for numerous high profile complex civic issues.

She is now CEO of Boston Public Market which opened in 2015 and is a locally sourced market, the only one of its kind in the country.

Additional insights will be shared by Maura McNamara, RDN, LDN, a Wellness Consultant at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and an experienced Registered Dietician focused on infant, child, and family health.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Jenna Pelletier, Food Editor at Boston magazine.

During the breakfast benefit, Laniya Marie Williams whose three-year old daughter graduated from Room to Grow’s program this spring, will share her personal story and how Room to Grow has helped her develop a nurturing, strong relationship with her daughter, and given her the strength and confidence to be the best parent she can be.
