Bring your baby along to a fun study at BU! We give $25 compensation and your baby will receive a free prize and certificate. We also provide free parking.

We would like to invite you and your baby to participate in a one-time lab visit for our study, Infant Coping and Development (ICAD), taking place at the Brain and Early Experiences (BEE) Lab at Boston University.

We really appreciate your time and we hope you and your baby can make it!

We are interested in studying how infant physiology changes as infants encounter and cope with mild day-to-day frustrations, and the role of infant sleep habits, self-regulating behaviors and social interaction.

Here is what you can expect during your visit to the BEE Lab:

1) We will videotape and look at your baby's reaction to not being able to reach to some attractive toys.

2) We will videotape you and your baby playing together

3) We will take salivary samples and cut a few small strands of hair from your baby to measure hormone levels

4) We will give you some questionnaires to fill out about your family characteristics, life experiences, as well as your child’s sleep habits.

There is a parking garage across the street from the BEE Lab, and a researcher would meet you there with a free parking pass.

We are happy to provide childcare for siblings during the study.

Compensation is $25 for the lab visit plus a prize for your baby.

If you are interested in participating, please let us know the days that would work for you.

The visit takes about two hours.

Right now we have morning time slots available Monday through Friday.

Weekend visits can also be arranged to accommodate your schedule.

Thank you so much!

If you have any questions about the study, please do not hesitate to call us at 617-353-9328, or reply to this email.

We look forward to hearing from you!

LOCATION↑ top

64 Cummington Mall, Boston, MA, 02215 map
Phone: 6173539328

1. Driving: We are located at 64 Cummington Mall; however, we are going to have you park in the Warren Towers lot close by (link to an image of Warren Towers, so you know what to look for: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Warren_Towers.jpg). The address is 700 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston (not Newton/Chestnut Hill), so if you are going up Commonwealth Ave (with the Citgo sign and Prudential Center building behind you), you will see the Warren Towers building on your left (you will have to turn left at one of the lights in order to get onto the other side of Commonwealth Ave); if you are going down Commonwealth Ave (with the Citgo sign and Prudential Center building in front of you), you will see the Warren Towers on your right and you'll already be on the side you need to be on. The entrance to the parking lot is off of Hinsdale Mall (a small side street off the right-hand side of 700 Commonwealth Ave). It says 'private way' but it is OK to turn onto for parking. A research assistant will be waiting for you in the lot with a parking pass, and we'll walk to the lab from there. If you get there more than 10 minutes early, please call us at 617-353-9328 so we can send someone to the parking garage early.

2. Public Transportation: By T, take a Green Line “B” train to the Boston University East stop. Upon exiting the trolley, cross over the trolley tracks and Commonwealth Avenue, and walk down Cummington Mall (the small, one-way street emptying onto Commonwealth at that intersection, there is a FedEx and a City Convenience at the corner). After one block the road turns 90° to the left. Stay on the right-hand sidewalk. Enter the second set of glass doors and a researcher will be waiting for you there. (This is a 2-minute walk from the T stop.) By bus, take any of the following bus routes to Kenmore Square: 8, 57, 60, 65, 8A. At Kenmore Square, board a westbound/outbound Green Line “B” train to Boston University East stop. Follow T directions above.
