boston harbor islands photoThe Boston Harbor Islands are a part of history - and a part of the great outdoors.

So, if you are looking for an easy, exciting, half-day trip, the islands offer plenty of choices for individuals and families - walking, fishing, swimming, talking with a ranger, or just seeing the sights.

All are welcome: children and adults, individuals and families, locals and tourists, experienced hikers, and easygoing walkers. Getting here is fast, easy, and fun.

Boston Harbor Islands include:
Dear Island, Spectacle Island, Thompson Island, Peddocks Island, Georges Island, Lovells Island, Great Brewster Island, Little Brewster Island, Bumpkin Island and Grape Island.

Going to Lovells, Grape, or Bumpkin Transfer at Georges, or leave the mainland from the South Shore. Thompson Island is served by its own ferry, from Spectacle Island or South Boston.

Ferry Rides
Most people arrive at the Boston Harbor Islands via a brief ferry ride from Long Wharf-North in Boston. The ferry system gets you to the islands (and home again) quickly and easily. Watch the Boston skyline fade into the background as you approach Georges or Spectacle Island.

Round trip tickets are sold through Boston Harbor Cruises from Boston Long Wharf-North, Hull Pemberton Point, and the MBTA ferry from Hingham Shipyard. Discounts are available for children, seniors, active military personnel, groups of 10 or more and advanced purchase online.

To access Thompson Island from South Boston's EDIC Pier, please pay onboard the Outward Bound.
