community rowing inc photoCommunity Rowing (CRI) was founded in 1985 as a nonprofit organization dedicated to the belief that the sport of rowing provides unique abilities to promote personal and community growth through teamwork, discipline, and physical fitness.

Committed to making these opportunities available to all,CRI has become one of the largest rowing programs in the United States with over 1,500 people rowing with us annually.

Located on the Charles River, an internationally recognized attraction for rowing and a gem within the Massachusetts park system, CRI was the first public rowing club in Boston and remains one of the largest in the United States.

CRI is committed to its mission of enriching the greater community and provides broad based programs for youth and adults, novice to elite skill levels.

Youth Programs
CRI Youth Programs are for rowers of all ability levels ages 12 to 18. Programs are organized by skill level (from beginner to competitive). Class schedules correspond roughly to the school calendar and programs do meet during any school vacations scheduled during term dates.

Adult Programs
CRI Adult Programs are for rowers of all athletic backgrounds and ages. We offer a variety of programs to match skill level and competitive interest. Have you never done anything athletic? We welcome you! All our programs take place in one of the most beautiful locations on Boston’s Charles River and in a brand new boathouse that’s won international recognition.
You can row “sweeps” in an 8-person boat, known as an Eight, or ‘sculling’ in a 1-person boat known as a Single. Whichever you choose, sweeps or sculling, you need to come to all classes in the first two weeks, rain or shine. Why?

Our first priorities are your safety, security, and enjoyment. During the first two weeks, your coach will be reviewing safety information as well as program and individual goals so you can improve and have fun. We ask for regular attendance throughout your program for the same reasons.
