Theater in the Open transforms the magical tradition of storytelling into theater. Using puppetry, pageantry, music, movement, and acting, we present and explore myths, classic literature, original scripts, and modern dramas that reflect the diversity of cultures around us.

About the Coachman Property at Maudslay State Park
Our home is the Coachman Property at Maudslay State Park in Newburyport, Massachusetts. This beautiful four acre parcel of land is set on the west side of Maudslay State Park and will be the site of three of our four major productions with the fourth at the Firehouse Center for the Arts in Newburyport.

All of our plays will be centralized on the Coachman Property or the adjacent fields on the west side of the park making our productions easy to find. For your convenience there are bathroom facilities within walking distance of all of our plays. Because of the generous donation of a van, we can offer rides from the parking lot to our play sites for elderly and physically challenged audience members. Please call ahead to 978-465-2572 if you will need a ride to the play site.
